PanamaTipico.com presents paper at High-Tech Heritage Conference at UMass Amherst
University of Massachusetts is located at the city of Amherst. Here we can see one of the gates of the campus.
The campus is really beautiful and combines older and newer buildings with contrasting architectural styles.
There are many trees and even a big pond at the campus. On the background of this picture, there is the Lincoln Campus Center, the venue that hosted the conference.
Our webmaster, Marino Jaen Espinosa, gave a presentation about PanamaTipico.com's positive impact on the Panamanian diaspora.
For the second time in only five months, PanamaTipico.com has been honored by an invitation to present a paper at an international conference about the use of technology for researching, preserving, publishing and teaching cultural heritage. This time, we attended the prestigious High-Tech Heritage conference, organized by the Center for Heritage and Society and held from May 2 to May 4 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Our presentation was titled Strengthening the heritage and identity of the Panamanian diaspora through a grassroots cultural heritage website. It was presented on the first day of the conference.
For us, it was a pleasure to attend this conference and to be able to learn a great deal from the very talented participants who represent the elite of the fast-evolving multidisciplinary field of technology applied to cultural heritage. We felt very priviledged that our paper was accepted for presentation and thus given the opportunity to show to such a select audience that in Panama we also develop and use high-tech tools for promoting our rich cultural heritage.
