Our webmaster, Marino Jaen Espinosa, gave a presentation about PanamaTipico.com's positive impact on the Panamanian diaspora.
By: For the second time in only five months, PanamaTipico.com has been honored by an invitation to present a paper at an international conference about the use of technology for researching, preserving, publishing and teaching cultural heritage. This time, we attended the prestigious High-Tech Heritage conference, organized by the Center for Heritage and Society and held from May 2 to May 4 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Our presentation was titled Strengthening the heritage and identity of the Panamanian diaspora through a grassroots cultural heritage website. It was presented on the first day of the conference. For us, it was a pleasure to attend this conference and to be able to learn a great deal from the very talented participants who represent the elite of the fast-evolving multidisciplinary field of technology applied to cultural heritage. We felt very priviledged that our paper was accepted for presentation and thus given the opportunity to show to such a select audience that in Panama we also develop and use high-tech tools for promoting our rich cultural heritage. The conference website is available at High-Tech Heritage and the program can be downloaded here. |
