One of the most common traditional beverages in Panama is the coconut water. This natural drink can be found inside the young coconuts, that are green on the outside.

The coconut water has medicinal uses such as an anti inflamatory and a cleaner of the urinary system. It is also very refreshing to have one during the hot, humid days of the tropics.

In Panama, you can enjoy coconut water in several ways. You can buy a young coconut and pierce it yourself with a machete, then drink straight from it. You can use a straw. Also, there are street vendors who carry the coconut water in a cooler. Finally, there are, even, a couple of companies that bottle the coconut water and sell it at supermarkets.

When you come to Panama, make sure you taste such a nice beverage.
